Commuter Benefits
Employee elections for public transit or parking pre-tax benefits may be changed throughout the year, without any qualifying event required. The process and timing for your change will depend on your employer’s benefit admin platform for the commuter benefits, and internal payroll procedures. In most cases, the effective date of the change is the first pay date of the calendar month following submission of the the commuter benefit change. For example:
Your regular employer pay cycle is semi-monthly (24/year) on the 15th and last day of each month. You submit your completed change request on June 25th. The effective date of the change is July 1, and the first pay date reflecting the change will be July 15.
